SQ v1.6 bugs and/or features

Hi. First off, awesome update.
But there are some users claiming there’s a bug. Apparently you can’t deselect a channel anymore to go to the Home screen to shut down or lock. I’ve always done it using the Processing button but some people are troubled by this. The Reference Guide for v1.6 also says that the Home Screen is “also shown when no channels are selected”, but that might not be the case now.
Was this probably a deliberate change? It’s probably too early, but has anyone found other changes that are not on the documentation?

Keith confirmed today on FB this was deliberate due to the SQ Rack not having dedicated channel select buttons

I noticed this after SQ5 (not rack) update to 1.6. The Home Screen still has the Shut Down touchpad button displayed on startup (it works), but it does not return after deselecting channels. So the Shut Down button is only available at startup before any channel selection. Am I correct in assuming this means just shut down with on/off switch? Seems to be the only option…See my next post

Just found that the Home Screen with the Shut Down button will reappear when the buttons under the touchscreen are all disabled - even when a channel select button is active.

Yes that’s actually how I typically do it, just press the processing/routing button twice. I never knew about deselecting channels until someone claimed that it was a bug. Anyway, Keith confirmed that it was on purpose. I guess some people just needs to adjust a little bit but ultimately no harm done.

I noticed 2 more bugs.

  1. RTA have very low sensitivity on iPad apps (Mixing Station and SQ MixPad). There is no way to compensate it with offset, I have only 2-3 peaks during stronger signals (I think, above -6/9db) and flat rest.
  2. When using Mixing Station, opening EQ window causing return to first layer on phisical mixer.

I just want to add that there might only be an issue on the iPad, because I couldn’t immediately reproduce both errors with the current versions of MixPad and Mixing Station on Windows and Android.
Everything seems to be working as it should.
Do you perhaps have the opportunity to test it with a Windows or Android device in your situation to narrow down the errors?

And your error 2 might be more of a case for David Schuman than A&H.

I’ll try tomorrow with Windows and Android.

  1. I didn’t noticed similar issue with 1.5.x firmware, so it can be both, I don’t judge. I have current version of MS, tomorrow I’ll try to downdrage firmware and chech if there is something wrong now.

And you also used the updated version of Mixing Station for SQ 1.6?

That sounds like a really silly reason to me

Why should one REMOVE a function from a button just because another console doesn’t have this button?

Maybe good to know; I updates our SQ5 this weekend and everything worked fine, no issues found yet.

Thank you everyone for replying and answering questions. As for me, I updated firmware and apps last weekend and so far everything is going really well. For my uses, I didn’t notice any errors or bugs.
