Hi community, I’m Here since a couple of years and I’m very thankfull for a lot of good hint’s and tips. ![]()
I’ve been using an SQ6 for quite some time, and a few weeks ago our big band got the new SQ5+ ![]()
I’m familiar with the USB interface issues on the SQ6. I’m very glad that I found an Intenso USB 2.0 hard drive enclosure that works very reliably in my SQ6!
I thought I’d like to see if AH had finally improved the USB interface in the SQ+ models. After all, the SQ+ features a new design, and the drive issues have been known for a long long time… So, I fitted a USB 3.0 enclosure with an SSD and recorded 32 channels simultaneously as a test. After about 10 minutes, the SQ5+ display froze completely! It was showing the USB meter, but the screen was locked up.![]()
I couldn’t operate anything via the display, though I could still adjust the faders and the sound. Mixing was still possible, but the display remained frozen.![]()
The LED at the USB port was flashing to indicate data transfer, as was the LED on the hard drive itself. Unfortunately, I had to restart the console, so I couldn’t verify if the recording had actually succeeded. I repeated the test with a different USB 3.0 enclosure and another SSD. Every time I did this, the SQ5+ suffered this total freeze after some minutes. Only turning the unit off and on again restored display functionality. It’s running the latest firmware (2.0.3). Are you familiar with this problem? I never had this issue with the SQ6, not even with incompatible drives; in those cases, it would log errors, but it never froze completely like the SQ5+ does…![]()
