SQ5 no gain control on local inputs

Our SQ5 will not control the gain on local inputs, it will make a slight gain increase when the know is rotated fully to the last few percent. However, it works just fine on stage boxes of the S-Link. For me, this rules out a faulty gain knob as it works for remote stage boxes. I have done firmware updates, hard resets and even gone through menus line by line comparing it to our SQ7 which works just fine. Is this a known fault or is it a menu option that we have inadvertently applied?

We need a bit more information. A showfile or some screenshots would be appreciated.

We need to know what you are feeding in to the channel and how you have the pre-amp set up.

If you are inputting a very low signal (or have the ‘PAD’ button ON) then the signal level input will be very low, and the gain knob will have to be cranked all the way clockwise to get any output from the input strip.

Also, check that the input connector is wired correctly. Ideally you want to feed a balanced input signal into the SQ. I have seen all sorts of strangely-wired inputs occasionally that will never work…

Stupid question, do you have it re-patched to the local inputs? It isn’t automatic.
