SQ5+ Recording Freeze

I’m experiencing a strange issue with my SQ5+ while recording a stereo mix to a USB drive.
The recording appears to stop by itself—the time counter freezes—and after that, neither the STOP button nor the RECORD button responds. The transport controls become completely unresponsive, and the only way to recover is to restart the mixer.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Is this a known bug, or is there a log or diagnostic information I can check to determine the cause?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does the rest of the board freeze or is it just the recording function that’s borked?

It sounds like a variation on a problem that I (and others) have seen on the SQ6. It may be related to the USB drive you are using…though I’ve not seen this with just stereo. In my case it was multi-track.

In some cases you can retrieve what was recorded (up to the point where it froze) by doing an error check on the drive. You’ll then have to use something like WaveLab to add the missing RIFF header, since the only thing that will be in the resulting file(s) will be the actual sample data.
