SQ5 to Logic Pro via Dante - local inputs versus stagebox inputs issue

Hi all,

I’m using an Allen & Heath SQ5 connected via Dante to an iMac running Logic Pro.

When I plug microphones directly into the SQ5’s local inputs, the signal is received correctly in Logic and records without any issues.

However, when I connect the same sources through an AR2412 stagebox, the SQ5 input channels show signal and I can hear everything through the PA, but no signal reaches Logic via Dante.

Because the SQ5 is receiving audio from the stagebox correctly, I’m assuming this is a routing or patching issue somewhere within the SQ5 rather than a Dante network problem, but I’m not sure where to look.

Has anyone experienced this with an SQ5 + AR2412 + Dante setup? Any suggestions on which routing or I/O settings I should check would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Darren

You’ll need to double check your routing - most likely in the SQ’s I/O page. The Local I/O and the I/O from the SLink port are two different things and need to be routed using their respective routing tabs in the I/O section. I suspect the Local I/O has been routed to the Dante Card properly, but the SLink I/O has not been.

Keep in mind that routing the SLink I/O around the console (which sounds like it is set up properly) is different from the routing the SLink I/O to/from the expansion card slot (which sounds like it is not set up properly).

If that is not the problem, the you need to check the routing in Dante Controller and/or Logic itself. Those are two other “places” where routing needs to be set up properly for audio to pass as expected.
