SQ6 scene recall doesnt work

Hi there

I work in a club with rock concerts every night, we ve got an SQ6

each time we recall a scene its completely different than the saved scenes!

different EQs, faders…

any ideas?

thanks

marc

Are there filters and/or safes set for scenes?

Make sure you have set all your scene safes, select all to be on the safe side, excuse the pun there.

And remember that scenes don’t save everything that a show file does (mixer config, io patch, etc…)

i only need to save gains, eqs ,volumes, aux sends and slink patching , do i need scene safes?

Well,

You don’t ‘need’ scene safes - but if any are set, that setting will NOT be recalled when you recall a scene!

This is quite a complex issue, as the scene can have its own safe, there are global safes (that apply to all scenes) and (I think) you can have safes on a per ‘user’ basis.

On our SQ7 we give our trained users much more freedom than our guest users…

Dave

As mentioned scene safes and or blocks could be in place………or someone has played with the mixer and overwrote the scenes that you had saved.

hmmm. nothing blocked on recall filter! i really have to dig in to it! i ll be back to work next week… ill be back. thanks guys

and regularly save the Show to a flash drive

i will thanks! take care

Make sure that none of your channels are set to safe mode.

When you save a scene, the system always saves EVERYTHING. There is no way to tell the system to only save gains, eqs, volumes, etc. This is why the recall filters are so important. If you don’t want to replace every setting with what was saved in the scene, you need to filter out the settings that you DON’T want to change.

Scenes should have unique names. I didn’t realize that when I first starting using an SQ7 at church, and I kept saving changes to the “Pulpit” scene, only to find out later that the Pulpit scene on the softkey accessed a different “Pulpit” scene. Silly me - they both had exactly the same name, but different settings.

Hi Mark,

I do something similar to you, working in a community theatre where we have several bands a week, jazz nights, folk nights, school productions, pantos and more. Desperate to speed up our workflow, we built a “Start Here” template for bands based around a drum set with 4 toms, bass, 3 guitars, 2 stereo keys and 5 vocals. Over time we’ve “trained” the template as follows. For the soundcheck we tweak the settings for the channels in the “Start Here” scene and then save it. We use pretty much the same mics and DI boxes for every show so it’s not long before, let’s say, the drum set takes moments to check. Having sound checked on “Start Here” we’ll firstly save a new scene for that band under its name (The Cloggs 2026) and then discard unused channels from the surface, do monitor tweaks and resave the scene, not just ready for the show, but as a starting point for The Cloggs 2027! This means that over time, we’ve built a template that once loaded gives us incredibly fast set-ups. We do a lot of tribute bands who make regular appearances and this technique really does save LOTS of pain and time.
