anyone any thoughts? the pdf shows a connectionsheet

Hi Joefi,

Unfortunately, this would be unsupported.

Thanks!

Alex

hi alex,

thx for your replay, what could ever happen if i try this configuration?

hi, no answer? whats up guys … ???

Hi joefi

The supported way to link these two consoles while using an audio rack would be to buy an SLink card for the SQ, so that you can connect the two consoles using one SLink port, and your AB168 using the other. The SLink card isn’t actually available yet, but I believe that it is coming ‘soon’.

Hope this helps

joefi, what do you mean no answer?

Alex answered your question.

You then proceeded to ask the exact same question.

The answer if you tried it is: it would not work.

thanks Alex & Jeff for your answers! i dont wanna fool somebody, now i tried the unsupported way - what should i say -
it works …

@joefi this worked for you when you tried it??

Hi Brandon,

yes it worked like a charm, i did it like this - see pdf
sq6_to-qu16.pdf (80.8 KB)

Hey joefi,

The reason this is unsupported is because of clocking and messaging data.
You may be able to get audio, but it cannot be properly sync’d at every point, so you are likely to get unwanted noises (clicks and pops) or possible drop-outs.
The data sent between units could also cause corruption or even damage.

All supported configurations are shown in the SLink Connections document available from the website - this will be updated as and when other connections are possible (I’m not ruling out the fact that this may be supported in future!).

Thanks,
Keith.

hey Keith, thanks for your reply and answer, i understand it now and don`t try it a second time!
keep up with your great work and support !!!

cheers,

joefi

Thank you both for the fast responses. Wondering if the sync issues wouldn’t be a problem so long as it’s all 96khz gear. Being the same setup but with dx box and sq consoles… would be very cool if this in turn became a fully supported way of doing FOH and monitor desk splits

It still would be a problem, because every mixer creates its own clock, and it may differ slightly. As long as none of the mixers support getting the clock from the stagebox instead of giving it to the stagebox OR uses SRC on inputs you will get clicks, pops, drop outs and other unpleasantries.

Come to think of it: Doesn’t the SQ use SRC on all channels anyway if a 48kHz stagebox is used?

Come to think of it: Doesn’t the SQ use SRC on all channels anyway if a 48kHz stagebox is used?

I think it works in 48kHz then, thats why mixing of DX and AB/AR boxes is not possible

sq always runs in 96khz internally, but if you use an ar/ab stagebox slink is at 48khz
