We have recently installed an SQ7 in our church. We use four channels for ceiling condenser mics to pick up congregational singing etc. routed to two auxes for CD record & video record. They are not routed to the main house speakers for obvious reasons.
Is there a way to occasionally briefly route them to the house speakers through soft-rotaries, that would allow us to briefly open and close the feeds to the house on these channels to provide some amplification where an individual in the congregation is leading in prayer for example, without have to create a new scene? Hope this makes sense. TIA.
Hi,
Two ways are coming to my mind:
- send the Channels PreFade to Aux → you can mix AUX and LR (= house speakers) independently
- Don’t route LR directly to the house speakers but via a Matrix. When you route (and adjust) the AUX to the same Matrix that signal is added to house speakers.
(generally it’s a good idea to use a Matrix between LR and the Outputs)
Alternatively, you could send the 4 mics not directly but via a group to Main LR and assign the group fader + mute to your rotary.

Look at the block diagram for the SQ7.
It may be a steep learning curve about how to interpret it, but it identifies all which ways you can route signals.
