Sticky Faders - Midi issue

Hey all,

I’ve used many dLive and Avantis’s over the course of a few years. Up until my latest dLive I’ve had great luck with faders. I bought a C3500 in Dec. 2023, running a waves card in the surface and a Dante card in the mix rack and is networked for iPads. I’ve been on 2.0 for a while and am now on the newest firmware (2.03?) I can’t remember off the top of my head.

A few months ago I started to get intermittent sticky faders. Changing banks works as normal, it’s more like when I move them it resists and have to move faders in small bursts. It doesn’t do it all the time, but like a few times a month I get it. Sometimes it resolves after a reset.

Anyways, at rehearsal I had the sticky faders and I did all the usual stuff with calibration and whatnot, but I was looking through some new menus (well new to me) I assume showed up in newer firmware and I haven’t explored it yet. I made my way to the Utilities menu and found this page Utilities > Control > Midi and saw there was enable and disable midi send and midi receive, I thought, maybe there was confusion with midi coming in with the faders, so I disabled the receive and the faders worked like normal. I don’t know if this is a fix or anything, and I haven’t turned it on since then. I’m wondering if anyone has tried this with sticky faders?

Same here.
Disabled Midi IN and all is back to normal.
Remember that A&H for reasons ill never understand removed MIDI ports altogether, offering only MIDI over IP options, which makes every other peace of gear that dosent run Windows or MacOS effectively unable to communicate with the mixer. And even then, every guest engineers comin in with midi related software needs to download and install drivers, or you need to buy a BomeBox… Not to mention it’s IP only but there is no OSC support which is very very disappointing. Anyway, lots of words to come back to your problem… after a lot of searching, it turned out the keyboard player, who was running Ableton Live, had the AH Midi driver installed ad running… still not 100% sure that was it but chances are high. So be careful who is doing what on your network.
