Talkback features

It would be very useful to have a trim per mix on the talkback function. Would also love to see a compressor on the talkback source (or being able to select an input channel as the talkback source.

Oh - I misunderstood something, so I’ll correct myself:

Only theoretically, since I don’t have a dLive at my disposal:
As a temporary workaround you could use for your talkback a normal input channel with all its processing options and the variable mixing levels.
At least, that’s how I usually do it on SQ and Avantis.
A limitation, probably also on the dLive, is that you only have latching mode (and also not the Dim PAFL).
And if you absolutely need talkback groups, there’s surely a solution for that too.

Thanks for the reply. There surely are workarounds, but I find the talkback function to be very fast and efficient (and even better with my suggestions). I am often in need of multiple talkback groups and use the softkeys to have quick access to them, therefore I find it impractical to use a regular input channel (would have to have one channel per group, I guess).

Yes, with my SQ it’s certainly the only way.
With dLive, I was hoping that you could use actions to change the assignments of the input channels to aux sends (see image), but unfortunately, I don’t know the console well enough for that.
And of course, it was only intended as a workaround until your request is implemented.

I might be missing something about your post. How else can you use talkback other than using an input?

If you’re referring to me:
Of course, you need an input (socket), but for talkback, this is usually patched directly to the spartanly equipped talkback module.
However, using an input channel for talkback, also gives you access to things like compression and variable mix levels, which the OP would love to have.

What the OP is referring to is that DLive has a very elegant talk group section that allows you to quickly add/subtract talkback groups on the fly without multi-step preprogrammed actions that burn up soft keys, and is only missing a couple of basic additions to make it more usable. I have a TB channel setup the usual way that allows the band to mix my TB into their IEM how they like but use the TB groups for hitting monitors/prod/MD quickly in whatever combo I want by using the TB group GUI and not having to use up precious soft keys on my Cti1500.

I understood what the OP meant, but unfortunately, his suggestions for comp and different mixes would only be usable after A&H would implements these options, which is unknown when or if they will even happen.
Therefore, I would like to emphasize again that my idea was not intended as a replacement, but only as a temporary option, which I also mentioned.

One possible workaround that could work, as long as you have spare groups available, is to assign the talkback to groups instead of aux and send the level of those groups to the auxiliary sends you want. You can also apply compressors to each of those groups. This way you can still use talkback groups and assign them to softkeys. Again this will only work if you have spare group’s available.

Yes! More of a channel strip for the Talkback section would be great. Even just a PEQ and a comp (i can get a bit overexcited on TB sometimes…) would be enough. Gain and HP is a bit on the slim side for something we essentially use instead of a channel.

I use grouping a lot to talk to various different people/groups/mix types etc. so a little more control would be an excellent addition!
