test for digital noise and HD compatibility

I have a sq5 in 1.5.1 and WD My Passport
I have to record a jazz band. It’s an important job and I can’t go wrong
I was wondering: if through routing I made the same signal go on all 16 channels and tried to record for a long time maybe using gate compressors etc etc, could it be a valid test to verify the absence of problems? I could do some tests and then listen to the results. What do you think?

@GINOPO

Testing is good but then the HD might need cleaning and defragging and checked for bad sectors again before real usage is attempted with the band.

On occasion I have had two different systems recording the same event to be sure (more sure:) that one of them was good.

Grazie :slight_smile:

+1 for a backup recording. ALWAYS!

every modern OS is automatically checking for bad sectors with SMART
connect the disk to a computer for a while will do the check

make a backup recording to a stereo recorder
