Testing a iDR-32 - stand alone

Hello,

Is there a way to test a iDR-32 Rack unit with just a computer? I found some info about the iLive Editor online. Can the editor be used to sent & received audio over a Ethernet connection on a PC? Or, can the editor software allow me to configure the rack to send audio from a input to an output to verify functionality?

Yes you can connect an iDR direct to a laptop with an ethernet cable or you can connect a wifi router to the iDR and connect to it wirelessly.

You cannot send audio up or down the ethernet cable to/from a computer, you can only do that when you have a surface (R72/T80/T112) connected via ACE.

You can however use editor to control every aspect of the iLive / iDR including patching inputs and outputs.

So for example you could connect a microphone to an input and a speaker to an output and have complete control of both via editor.

There are limitations to what can be done with the iLive editor software.
If you are basically just testing the in and out functionality of the mix rack you should be ok.
Some of the more advanced functions are limited to a surface connection only. For example, you cannot setup or change network settings with the pc connection. You also cannot configure user profiles/passwords with the pc connection.
