Trying to store Preset or Config to USB key

There appears to be a lot of folks here having the same problem using a USB key to get the configuration of one ME to others. Can A&H please post a list of USB drives that work with ME?

I have spent many hours today testing about 20 different USB drives, from multiple manufacturers, many different capacities. I have formatted them all to FAT32. I have formatted them in a computer, I have formatted them in my SQ5. Interestingly, sometimes the SQ5 formats the USB drive as FAT 32 and sometimes it formats as FAT16.

I have finally found one USB key that appears to work. It did save a Preset file, but none of the other ME1s recognized it. Even the ME1 that wrote to the USB key stopped recognizing it. I am not sure now if the Preset file on the USB is even a viable file.

Many times I get almost to the end of saving a file to a USB key, and all of the Select buttons start blinking, and remain that way for at least an hour or until I decide to pull the power on the ME1 and reboot.

I have my SQ5 and ME1s set up in my living room. I have been using he SQ5 for a while now, but am new to the ME1s. I have setup one ME1 and eagerly await the secret method to send that configuration to the other ME1s. Apparently, some here have had to skip the non-working USB method and just manually copy the settings from one ME1 to the others. If I had done that, I might already be done.

Please A&H, since most USB keys do NOT work, please give us some direction as to which USB keys do work.

I tried using the USB Solid-State Drive (SSD) that I use with my SQ5 to record shows. I plugged the SSD into the back of the ME1, and it worked! It quickly recorded both Preset and Config files. Then I was able to move that Config file to another ME1. Please A&H, change your ME1 User Guide to include SSD rather than USB Keys.
