USB KEY SUPPORT

Good day A&H enthusiasts.
May I ask if anyone knows if the USB port supports USB 3.1 and the max size for a key that can be used to record audio. THankyou.

The USB-A port on CQ is USB 2 spec, so it’s sort of the other way around - USB 3.1 devices will support a 2 spec port.
The drive has to be formatted to FAT32, so the maximum volume size is technically 2TB. Some OS versions will limit FAT32 volumes to 32GB, but most should let you go larger.
The main characteristic is write speed - drives need to sustain constant writing at a high speed to work well.

We don’t have an official recommendation list because the pace of release of devices for USB drives is so rapid.

Also remember that on CQ, the USB-A port is only for stereo recording. If you’d like to do multitrack, you’ll need to use SDHC.

You can not beat recording multitrack in 96k on and SDHC card. It’s glorious!

Also worth pointing out that if you’d like to do just stereo on an SDHC you can do this too - just arm the two tracks (for instance, your main LR) - the only difference is you’ll end up with two separate files rather than one stereo file.

We do both, Mark. We pull those 96k tracks into Studio One and WOW is all I can say.
