hello, i’m new with the sq6 and i understand that one can record multitrax to it and it is used to update firmware, but i’m wondering what exactally is stored on the usb stick if i just plug it in and start using the mixer, are scenes, user settings stored automatically to the stick or are the scenes stored on the mixer itself unless i go into the settings and back up scenes etc through the usb page
Nothing is stored on the stick unless you tell it to. Scenes are on the console. You do not need one to run the console.
thanks, that’s what i thought, I’ve done FOH for 30 yrs and used a lot of analog and started using digi boards about 10yrs ago, been away from mixing for about 5yrs and I’m used to the presonus and x32 and the church i’m attending is full of newbie FOH folk and they don’t seem to understand what the board is capable of let alone what dynamics are, etc. was thinking of using the playback feature to instruct how to use comps, eq, processing etc but was unsure if i set it up to record and playback without someone crying that because I’m new to the church and they don’t know what I know, I didn’t want to step on someones toes.
Perhaps additional:
The SQ always contains one show, which can consist of up to 300 scenes and can be saved to an USB stick if needed.
But on a SQ, you can also save scenes individually to an USB stick.
Make sure when you record your test tracks, that you set the pickoff point after the preamp and before any processing. That way you’ll have the ‘raw’ tracks to work with in a virtual soundcheck.
good point, I was thinking that, it’s like using it as an interface for cubase
