ID3443 Support of latest AR/AB expander hardware.

ID3150 Pinch control of PEQ bandwidth does not work reliably on macOS.

ID0893 In certain circumstances, the touchscreens can freeze on the ampersand screen when attempting to update firmware from V1.03.

ID2306 MIDI Softkeys in Director fire both their ‘on press’ and ‘on release’ events on press.

ID2300 DCA Spills do not work in Director when online.

I didn’t know about AR/AB expander hardware. Looks like a bit older hardware, not ‘latest’ hardware.
Am I missing some news? Pardon my ignorance.

No ignorance, don’t worry!

AR/AB stageboxes are our older 48kHz dSnake protocol devices. They’re supported on SLink ports (which is why they’re in this update).
Periodically we have to update the internal hardware of any new devices in ways that requires firmware support, and this is one of those moments.

I completely understand why A&H had to make this release. Since the hardware changed that would cause new AR/AB devices to be unable to connect to the Avantis without this firmware release, it had to be released NOW rather than waiting to bundle it with a larger release.

That being said, I’m probably not the only person that read Jack’s headline with some real excitement, only to have that excitement dashed when I read it was only a single item maintenance release and not a feature release. :joy:

What about new features? The last “major”-release was in November 2023 :frowning:

I hope for Shure SLXD and Sennheiser EW-DX support over a year now.

Please give Avantis also a little bit more love like you did with DLive.

Avantis certainly has not been forgotten.

It’s a little too early to confirm specific features but our R&D team are hard at work, working on a significant major feature release for Avantis!

Does Avantis have the option to install/use the UltraFX card?

As of today, there isn’t a “RackUltra FX card” that works with the Avantis . That being said, the Avantis does have an expansion card slot as well, so it is definitely possible for A&H to produce a card for the Avantis. Rob Clark (Managing Director of A&H) confirmed this in a video interview when the DLive RUFX card was first released.

This is just me speculating, but I would assume that the Avantis would need an addon hardware card before it could handle all of the extra processing that the new RUFX plugins require. In other words, I don’t think the Avantis has enough “spare” processing power with the stock processor to handle any of the RUFX plugins either, so I bet it is going to take more than a simple firmware update to bring RUFX plugins to the Avantis. But that is just an “educated guess” on my part.

I’m just asking for a simple Sennheiser Integration update. Our EW-DX’s sure want to be integrated!
