My C3500/CDM48 is set up as LR+M in Mixrack config. What I’d like to do during a musical is have the music tracks LR only and have the actor mics through the center speaker (M) only. I can’t seem to locate the controls to do this in the Routing section. What am I missing? Thanks!
If you click on the panning setting, does it bring up a pop-up screen where you have more options? It does with some LCR and surround sound main buss setups and I wonder if the LR+M setup works the same way.
No popup screen.
However, I’ve found that if I unassign a channel from the stereo bus, it will only feed the mono bus. That might be a workaround. I will also try to configure the Mixrack in an LCR configuration. That way, if I’m understanding correctly, a source will feed only the mono bus when center-panned, and a stereo source will only feed LR.
When using LCR mode, I believe the divergence control will determine how much of the signal gets sent to the center channel vs the lr channels. I’ve never used that mode, so I am not sure how flexible it is with regard to sending audio to center only vs panning across the lcr field.
From the manual:
“LCR – A 3-way main mix with LCR panning. Each channel can be panned from left,
through centre to right. At mid pan, full signal is fed to M and none to L and R. Stereo
channels feed the LR mix only.
LCR+ - A 3-way LCR main mix with two controls to position the sound. Pan balances
between L and R, and Divergence blends the signal between C and LR.”
LR+M defines LR and M as two master buses. You can route the signals to both or just one of them.
