Waves SG Driver - multiple laptops

Hi,

Does anyone know, if it’s possible to connect more than one laptop to the same network, each running an instance of SG Driver?

I wanna use one laptop for recording, and another laptop (which also runs Multirack Soundgrid) for Mainstage (tuning stuff, etc.).

I can see both SG Drivers under Inventory, but i can’t activate both.

Anyone?

Anyone - help!

You are asking for Dante function. SGD cannot do this as far as I know.

If you have digital splits (1st 32 channel for F.o.H, 2nd 32 channel for monitors, than you may(be) use SGD multirack as inserts on the 1st 32 channel, and u can assign direct outputs so that 33-64 are sending the copy of 1-32 so you can record multitrack on the same laptop.

Hey, unfortunately you can only have one instance of driver running on a network.

With modern laptops you should be able to perform all the tasks on the same machine, multitrack soundgrid is not power hungry at all. Just make sure you use an external hard drive for recording and also a light daw for recording (i use Reaper, a handful of megabytes), there should be enough resources left.

With my setup (mbp 2009) I run Smaart, 48ch of record on the driver and multirack soundgrid and the system is still very responsive.

Let me know how you get on!

Ok, thanks!

However, I’m using Mainstage for auto tuning backing vocals (with automated key signatures), and Reaper for recording.

Reaper recognizes the Waves SG Driver, but when i start to record, i get some kind of fuzzy sound on my four auto tuner inserts.

That’s why i wanted to use a secondary laptop for recording, using my FOH laptop only for Mainstage and Multirack.

My laptop is a 2012 Macbook Pro i5 2,4 Ghz, 4 GB of RAM.

I should add, that I have no problem recording when I’m not using my Mainstage inserts, and i have no problem using Mainstage inserts when I’m not recording… I just want Mainstage and Reaper to co-exist!

You should try playing with different driver latency settings, the lowest the better for native processing, but more processor load. So you need to find a middle ground so that you can do both things at once. the setting is in the inventory page (F2).
