Those that have their qu-16 racked up, are you using an 11U, 12U, or something else? I’m wanting to find a slant top 12U rack with 6U or 8U front, and having a tough time finding one. I see this one that looks pretty sweet but it’s a 14U top and I’m thinking about putting some of the in-ear transmitters up at the top if there is room. Homepage - Gator Cases
I’ve got the 12U pop up Gatorcase these days

(not at that price though!)- enough room under the desk for an airport express to live with a mains 4 way.
Not sure you could put anything extra into that 14U one as it would block the sockets, though just a panel for aerials could work.
I did have one of these
which could be good for what you want. Didn’t really work out the way I wanted & now belongs to another forum member…
Pop external gear in front - with a door to lean on?
Mark-thanks for those links. I was thinking of putting the outboards in front of the mixer, not at the rear, so it wouldn’t block the connections. I want to have everything already hooked up. A pop-top case won’t work for our needs. I need at least 6U in the front.
So 11U is big enough at the top to keep all the connections plugged in??
I’m thinking about this one:
Just a thought - splitting the racks, with a sensible loom between them, probably stored in the “outboard” rack might make the system more portable…
What Bob said! Racking too much stuff quickly makes for a very heavy rack.
And no, 11U does not include space for connectors. But some types of cases have the extra room anyway. That second one I linked to before for example had loads of space behind the desk. My 12U pop up Gator would probably have to use right angled connectors if it were a 12U desk.
Still just trying to find out how many rack spaces the top needs to be to have the board be plugged in all the time with regular connectors. 12U?
If the back of the case (or lid) is hard against the end of the rack then I don’t think 12U is enough. I can leave cables in my 12U, but it has an extra inch or so beyond the end of the rack.
hopefully a typo on the shop page of the Gator case:
Weight: 431.8 kilograms
Haha
Yep, can’t tell you what it does weigh, but it’s not that much!
I went for this one:
It gets here Friday! Woo hoo!
Nice!
