I am new to the world of digital boards. My last mixer was a Allen & Heath GL2400, which has now been demoted to our practice studio board. 3 weeks ago I picked up a gently used QU-24. It’s taken me time to learn the board, but it’s coming along nicely. I do get a whit noise (hiss) through the mains when a loud signal comes on. If you were peak out a mic and then go quiet the noise come in for a few seconds and then disappears. It happens whether is playing music from my phone, a loud vocal, or drum etc. Seems to affect all input channels. I haven’t checked if it is coming through the mix channels or not yet? Compressor and gate on or off on individual channels doesn’t seem to make a difference. Effects on or off no difference. Is there a gate or compressor on the L/R output that i haven’t found yet?
I would recommend saving anything that seems important to you and then do a Reset Mix Settings as described on page 83 of the Reference Guide.
If that doesn’t solve your problem, you could try the System Hard Reset (page 84), which will essentially restore your console to factory settings.
If your problem persists after that, a hardware defect is likely.
There is no gate on main LR output mix, there is a compressor though.
It kind of sounds like a gating action, when you said if you “peak out” a mic (I assume turning the channel gain way up) the noise comes in and then fades out, that sounds like a gate.
Since you bought this mixer used the mentioned full hard reset is a good idea just to clear out any left overs from the other user. Also check the firmware version, it may need to be updated.
We I may have said peaked out incorrectly. The gain is set correctly. When it’s a loud note sung or and extra hard hit in the snare it happens. The meter stays in the yellow. It seems to be only coming through the LR output. I don’t believe it’s coming through my IEM mix. I attached a video so you can hopefully hear what’s going on? I’m hoping it’s just something I’ve missed and left on??
First thing I did was upgrade it the latest firmware. I believe it was 1.99.

You want to try again or upload it to Google Drive and link from there?
But have you also tried the two reset options, as previously recommended?
Uploading videos is not possible here.
If needed, you would have to upload it to a web space of your choice and insert the link here.
