X:FX bypassed on Xone 43:C

Hi everyone,
I’m having difficulties with my Xone 43:C mixer.

I’m sending an audio signal through USB to an iPad that should work as an external effects unit, and the wet audio is coming back on Return through RCAs.
Unfortunately, the audio signal bypasses both the volume fader and the X:FX knob, so I can’t control it.
I don’t understand if I’m doingsomething wrong in terms of routing, or if this is a known problem on the 43:C.

For reference, I’m using AUM on my iPad to route everything there.

Has anyone encountered the same issue?
Thanks in advance!

Hi demyk
sorry no one’s got back to you on this topic previously

I’m not sure how you’re returning signal from AUM via RCAs to check for you, let me know and I can take a look. I’d assume you’re connecting these to the AUX RCA inputs?
However, you can use an iPad for FX via USB for both send and return to/from AUM. The AUM return does require use of one of the main channel (1-4) set to source the USB input.

Also, which audio signal is being bypassed? - is this sending to or returning from the iPad, or both?
If sending, sounds like that may be due to default soundcard routing, which sources the preamp stage channel RCA inputs directly (i.e. Phono or Line, pre_TRIM, pre-EQ, pre-Fader).
If you’ve not implemented the USB options via internal jumper settings, that would likely explain it.
In order to send the mixer’s X:FX signal to your AUM setup over USB, you do need reconfigure one or other of the options for X_FX…SND.
Details for how to do this are included on p18 the User Guide (https://tinyurl.com/43C-USB-option). NOTE: It does require you to remove the top panel, and information for that is also in the UG (p.31).

Images here FYI.
Screen shot from AUM shows two channels: the first sourcing X:FX on USB 3/4 the option implemented, with an AU FX app inserted, this is returning to the mixer via CH1 USB.
The second AUM channel sources the default setting for USB 7/8 - CH4 RCA Line inputs

The next image shows the mixer’s internal jumper options for X_FX…SND implemented for USB IN 3/4, on the unnderside of the main PCBA (as described in the UG).

If you need more info to get your setup working as you expect, or drop us a note to support where we can dig into the fine details. And we can confirm solutions back here on the topic onceyou’ve got it all running.

cheers, Al
