XLR Line Out Topology for CQ20B

I need to feed an unbalanced unit (a subwoofer) from one of the XLR outputs of my CQ20B. Could anyone suggest whether to tie XLR Cold (Pin 3) to Ground (Pin 1) on my adapter cable?

There is a similar discussion for the Avantis …

… but that discussion (aside being for a different unit) does not really answer the question for me. I understand that the answer depends on whether the output stage is “servo-balanced” or “cross-coupled” or “transformer-balanced” or “active” or “passive” or “electronically balanced” or a few other terms I have seen, but I’m clueless as to which of these terms implies whether I should tie Pin 3 to pin 1.

It would be great if someone could identify which of the above terms in a product description correspond to tying Pin 1 to Pin 3.

Servo-balanced?

Cross-Coupled?

Transformer-balanced?

Active?

Passive?

Electronically balanced?

Any other terms??

Thanks for any info!!

I think these are my choices for this situation … any suggestions welcome …

A friend suggested I open my CQ20B and inspect how the XLR outputs are wired. Hesitate to do that … so …

Maybe someone could describe the output stage of the CQ20B?

… or just tell me whether to tie Pin 1 to Pin 3 when converting to Unbalanced??

In my opinion, the result will depend less on the output of the CQ, which definitely does not have an output transformer, but more on the input of your amplifier, especially whether there is a connection to the protective conductor of the device or not.
The best and safest option would be to use a line transformer.
But if I were you, I would just try it out, first with your version C, but without the bridge between 1 and 3.
