Hi all,
I bought a Xone:96 new in May 2026 (France) and I’ve been using it regularly at home since. Sound-wise it’s flawless — no crackle, no dropouts, no issue with the sweeps. My question is purely about the mechanical feel of the controls.
Some of the pots feel noticeably grippy / notchy compared to others on the same unit — it’s not uniform, a few are perfectly smooth and a few catch slightly. The most obvious one is the asymmetry between Filter 1 and Filter 2, which don’t have the same resistance. The channel faders also feel slightly irregular along their travel.
I also own a Xone:42 that’s several years old, and the difference in feel is quite noticeable. I initially assumed it was just break-in on a new unit, but after 3 months of regular use nothing has changed — it feels exactly the same as day one.
So my questions to owners here:
- Is this level of variation between pots normal on a new 96?
- Did anyone see it improve over time, or does it stay as is?
- Is the Filter 1 / Filter 2 asymmetry something others have noticed?
Happy to hear it’s within tolerance — I’d just like to know before deciding whether it’s worth raising with my retailer while the unit is still under warranty.
Thanks!
