I’m using the 5-pin DIN MIDI output port of the Xone 96 to send a program change to a synth. Ableton uses the USB1 interface.
Whatever value for Program Change u send from Ableton, the synth always loads preset 44 (value 43).
When using other MIDI interfaces I don’t have this problem.
With a MIDI monitor I can see, with can the Xone 96 sends 2 consecutive Program Change messages. the first one is correct, the 2nd message contains a wrong value.
Other interfaces only send 1 program change message.
The 96 MIDI OUT port sends unfiltered MIDI messages to connected hardware.
This will include messages output from the mixer itself on the mixer’s default, or assigned, MIDI channel when controls that support MIDI are operated, so you can try troubleshooting to check if any adjustment of the mixer’s parameters might be affecting your issue.
MIDI spec for the 96 hardware is detailed in the User Guide and online at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/96MIDI
NOTE: When turned, the PHONES 2 switch outputs a NOTE OFF and NOTE OFF message each time
turning the switch from MAIN MIX to 1 outputs NOTE OFF 2B and NOTE ON 2C (decimal 43/44). Turning from 1 to 2 outputs NOTE OFF 2C and NOTE ON 2D (decimal 44/45) as shown.
These needn’t intrinsicly affect external hardware, however, and if the symptom exists without adjusting the PHONES switch, it wouldn’t seem to be affected by the 96 itself.
