Xone K3 Problem with Ableton LED Feedback

Hello Fam.

I have a little Problem with my new K3.

Im using a Hybrid Setup with a Xone96 , Traktor and Ableton.

With my K2 everything worked flawlessly.

Now with the K3 i have a Problem with the LED Feedback not working right with Ableton.

Mapping all Traktor Functions to the K3 using the Controller Editor worked ok. After some little workarounds Buttons and LEDs working as they should.

But with Ableton there is some strange behavior.

Mapping Samples in Ableton is working ok, the LEDs turn on when u press the Play Button in the Ableton Sample Slot and they turn off when they stop playing.

But when i map my Delay (PSP42) the LED doesnt respond the right way.

When i press the Button the Delay turns on, the LED also turns on, but when i turn the Delay off by pressing the Button again the LED stays on and its not responding anymore (the state of the LED).

The LED is on for good and theres no way you can change it. I tried everything in the Controller Editor. No way.

When you select the Gate (hold) Function, the LED turns on and off, the way it should be working, but as soon as you select the TRIGGER Function, thats the one i need to turn it on or off, the LED stays on and doesnt turn off again.

I wonder why this is happening. Like i said before, on the K2 it works without any Problems but on the K3 not and i need this visually to see if the Delay and its Functions are on or off.

Beside this Problem I also noticed that when you use the Connection via X-Link to the Xone96 all the LEDs behave very strange, they start blinking , they turn on and off when they want, they doesnt respond like they should anymore. It only works well when the K3 is connected via USB-C, so in my Case it sucks coz i dont have another USB-C Port free on my Mac and i had to get an Adapter to make it run  I always used the X-Link with my K2 coz its very easy and it saved a USB Slot for other things.

So Allen&Heath maybe you can have a Technician look into these Problems and help me out or tell me what to do to make it run , i love the new K3 and i want to have it running like my K2 did.

Or maybe someone else could tell me what to do or has an Idea ?

Thx in advance Guys,

Greetz, Tom

Question - What were the workarounds that enabled you to get the Traktor LEDs working on the K3? I can’t get them to toggle from feedback. Its random when the LEDs will change, though I am following the same instructions used for the K2.

Hey hey.

In the Controller Editor: First you change the SWITCH MODE to GATE or TRIGGER for the Buttons you want to light up.

GATE (hold) for Buttons you want to use by holding them , so the LEDs light up when u press and hold it and they turn off when u release the Buttons.

You wanna use TRIGGER from the dropdown Menu for Buttons you want to light up permanently when you press and them, (play for example) and that they turn off when you press the Buttons again to stop.

Make sure that you select the Correct Midi Channel for the K3 in the Controller Editor ( Top left Corner when the K4 is connected) You can change the Midi Channel on the Controller itself when you plug it in holding the Bottom Encoder saying POWER ON SETUP.

Also make sure that you select the right LED Mode for these Buttons, you should select REMOTE, so the Application you are using, in your Case would be Traktor, would be controlling the LED behavior.

Of course then you have to set up the LED OUT Settings in Traktor as usual, like sou did for the K2.

And voila, everything should work fine.

Oh and also make sure you save your New Map from your Local Maps in the Controller Editor to the UNIT MAPS to have it saved inside the Controller and one more very important thing ! You should always close the Controller Editor when you are finished with editing !

Leaving the Controller Editor running gonna cause strange LED Behavior because when the Editor is open the K3 is in an ONLINE State and the K3 behaves differently.

i hope this helps !

Greetz!

Problem solved, thx to the Allen & Heath Support !

LOL, this is the same for me too!

I have found out Traktor every time sends a command to disable previous note (disable LED) and enable the new note (enable another LED). But sometimes Traktor does this in a wrong order: at first it enables the new note and afterwards it disables the old note. That means - Traktor will disables the same button on K3. This is the problem only if You are trying to change the color on the same button. It works fine on a different buttons and worked fine on K2. But on K3 LED color changing on the same button is wonky at this time.

Yes, this is a major problem. Let’s see if someone from A&H can give us a solution, or if they can fix it with a firmware update.

Hey Tom. How did you solve the issue?

same issue with Trakor
