Additional Mixer Configuration

Additional mixer configuration, ie Master, Listen (add) AMM. Or simply an AMM Firmware.

Background, with the ver 1.6 update, I have lost a monitor/aux take-off point. I use Post Insert - Pre Eq. as my take-off point.

I am using a Waves Soundgrid card and send Post Channel Insert, EQ to monitor/aux. I can EQ each instrument sent to monitors, In my case In-Ears, for each musician. As I produce each show, and make large EQ changes for sonics / effects /sound /compression, It doesn’t effect the in-Ears of the musicians. I can setup monitoring for In-ears similar to what would be done with an additional monitor desk. The monitor sends are mixed EQ’d etc from my Soundgrid Server Prior to FOH. Minor EQ changes are required, at best, once set. FOH has minor offset to bring back to flat or neutral starting point and then has all the freedom to mix without effecting Monitors.

I Lost that after update to ver 1.6.
I Lost that after update to ver 1.6

Its something I had and Lost. It was explained by A&H Mark, it was because of lack of FPGA crosspoints needed for the AMM side of the board and the SQ was out of crosspoints, so a compromise was needed. I LOST, my customers lost and my musicians lost.

Also what good is Soundgrid if only to replace your EQ and Compression. It’s like an either / or.

Solution == Create an additional Configuration in the Mixer Configuration section, say, Master, Listen and AMM. Give AMM all the resources it needs with the emphasis on Speech Only Production. Can still be used for limited Live Sound. Then on the Master / Listen configuration eliminate AMM, freeing up crosspoints, memory etc for a Just Live Sound, giving all the resources for Live Sound.

Thats the beauty of FPGA, It can be quickly reconfigured via Programming or Firmware.

Making the Desk more robust and usable for different venues, without one mixer does all, only Limitedly.

After all your previous firmware have been around for several years and has been proven to be quite stable. It would be an easy fix or addition.

Thanks for listening.
