iLive 2

I’ve got another one.

Ditch the custom FX and go for Waves Soundgrid so we can plug in our own, or guest engineers can bring their own / presets.

The amount of effort A&H expends on FX would be better invested in core console functions. My thoughts are that if people want fancy multiband compressors or other effects, let them buy them themselves and run whatever they like.

But, point taken. A Digico style integration would be great.

Wish list:

An architecture that supports full control of multiple MixRacks from iPad apps. The current apps don’t let you control Slave racks.

A few more colors for strip LCDs.

More return channels from Slave racks. In the current system I can only get 32 channels back from the slave on the unused ACE channels (33-64). That makes Virtual Soundcheck using Dante a little tricky if the Dante card is in Port B of the slave.

Output trims. If I duplicate the mains on the surface RCA outs, I’d like to be able to pad those outputs a bit without burning another group/aux/matrix.

@tk2k yes I know about the waves card but it takes up a slot. Build it in so you still have expansion options.

A control surface that is network control only. ACE or Dante connection with maybe 4 audio inputs on the controller. Faders and a nice easy to understand strip control, lots of soft keys that are programmable, keyboard and mouse control with regular or touch screen capability. The user then could choose to purchase any screen he wanted. output for 2 screens would be nice. No screen built in, this would make for a very compact control surface that could be used with any of the current IDR mixracks.

Had the chance to touch and use one of the AVID sl3(I think that’s what they are calling it)VERY confusing for anyone that would not be setting at it all of the time. Good concept, poor execution. Allen and Heath already way ahead of the game of “network control”.

  1. Differentiation between the pro series & fixed format

  2. LCD naming on each layer with colors & peak ch info (shd inform

the latest ch peaked)

  1. Blinking MIX mode LED somewhere.

  2. Put the touchscreen at the center of the surface.

  3. Leave the rest unchanged (it’s already good) or maybe make it more

modern.

  1. Increase the DSP input # to 128 & 40 for outputs (if it’s possible)

  2. Make a T-144 surface

All of you hoping for an iLive2 get ready. I’m planning to purchase a new iLive system this fall and as things usually go a month or two after i buy something the new one comes out…

here’s my wish list:

  • FASTER surface boot time.

  • Record Stereo Mix to USB.

  • More Streamlined connection & channel access between two MixRacks.

  • Ability to use DSP in second MixRack seamlessly with the First.

  • Additional FX mixes from second mix rack.

  • Ability to have a Dante card along side an ACE card in iLive (non-T) surface for going to recording system. (I’m told that currently it only works with the Dante card in the MixRack).

  • Better responsiveness from the touchscreen.

  • Ability to gang two surfaces together.

– Ability to have a second surface work as a slave to the first for those times when you need a second operator working on some other channel.

  • Along those same lines… ability to “link/unlink” the touchscreen so that it can access a different channel from what the surface controls are currently adjusting.

  • More Characters on the channel name labels (8?).

  • How about an SPF port for a fiber connection?

  • Get AWAY from the crappy Java programming language and write something native for PC or Mac… Either one… please. I’ll even help code it.

Keep up the good work A&H. I’d be happy to beta test anything new

No please not…no Waves inside my mixing console please

A UAD Card would be a better solution but I guess it’s not possible yet.

SRV-AVB

R-72, iDR-16, xDR-16, Dante

User installable UAD card would be triple awesome. But 1st of the all, I’m not sure if UAD2 PCIe cards have low enough latency for going live. I have one in the desktop, realtime tracking with plugins is not practical. This is the reason they imposed the new external series.

This should be an Option - like the Digico has.

So you do not need to have Waves in your Console…

But i WANT to!

You guys realize there is already the m-waves and m-Dante cards? So waves is already feasible and so are a lot of other plugs via Dante. For best results with Dante you’ll probably need a solid tower with one of the Dante PCIe cards. Focusrite released the first one, but I believe yamaha has one out now also.

T112/48, MacBook Pro, D-link DIR-815, iPad 1 w/mixpad, Dante card feeding a Mac Mini w/DVS.

Of course we know. But what we want is Full integration - so you dont need an extra Laptop for controlling it.

You mean you are not already running a laptop next to you anyway for editor / SMAART/ Cue sheets…?

I have to admit I prefer the idea of UAD over Waves but this is available via Dante so I guess this is not a v2 thing so much.

A revamp of the internal computer stuff would be nice: support for an external monitor(s) for particular screens different form that which is being used to edit things: like 1-64 meters on a separate screen and another with the RTA (although I can just use a SMAART input fed from PAFL for that I guess…)

so many cool ideas flowing around here.
