New On-line Forum

I like it so far.

Am I just missing it or did the “Mark All Read” button disappear some how?

D.

It’s certainly a lot better than the old forum software. Just being able to edit posts will be a game changer!

I did find a “dismiss” button on the “unread” section. It seemed to clear out all the “unread” topics. FYI - it also has a checkbox to unfollow the topics, but you don’t have to make that selection.

hi @tourtelot

I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the new forum - it’s a long overdue upgrade for the community!

Regarding your question - there is not exactly a Mark All Read equivalent in the new forum as the underlying forum software, Discourse, doesn’t offer this functionality for various reasons.

There is however a similar feature where you can Dismiss posts from the New and Unread tabs (which is where I assume you’re looking) which removes them from the list - great if you’re trying to achieve “Inbox Zero”!

The Dismiss button should be right next to the New Topic button in these views.

However it should be noted that this will remove the Topics from view rather than marking them as read - the only way to show a Topic as “read” is to actually read it with the new platform!

Hope that helps.

I have just moved this to the General category which was previously hidden. We’ll keep this category around for a few weeks while we get through any teething issues with the new forum to keep the product categories tidy!

It’s generally helpful to have a place for the “uncategorizable” stuff.

This new forum is a huge improvement over the last one. The search functionality is much improved, so shouldn’t have to resort to google as much now.

I also really appreciate that there is a dedicated “Vote” function in Feature Request posts now. Should make it much easier for the community to see what features are actually the most desired.

Combine that with all the improved formatting tools, editable posts, and dark mode, this is freaking awesome. Well done A&H team!!!

I just went on a voting spree in the dLive Feature Suggestions topic and I noticed that we appear to actually have a limited number of votes. By my count, it seems like we get 20 votes. If this is intentional, could I suggest that we describe how voting works in the Guidelines section of the forum?

The idea of limited votes is pretty interesting. It seems like it would make the votes more valuable and folks would perhaps be a little more cautious to “spend” them, which might encourage users to only vote for the features they really want.

@J_McRib

Firstly, we’re really glad that you like the new forum, it was a long overdue update!

Regarding the voting limit - good spot!

To be honest, we’re still feeling out the voting system and the limits that are in place, and as you say a finite number of votes does change the thought process significantly, but that isn’t to say we will be sticking with a limited number going forward.

If you could bear with us for a few more days until we finalise all the details, we will then update the Feature Suggestion categories with some more information on the voting system.

As an aside, another neat feature we’re introduced is the ability to mark a reply as a solution in the troubleshooting categories which should make things a lot easier for people stumbling across the topic for the first time - see this post for an example.

Thanks for including the ability to search the forum within a specific product category!

Yes, that’s a drawback with the Discourse environment in default configuration.

If anybody is interested, the Steinberg Forum is running on the same system, and they made some adjustments that are excellent for the user experience.

Yes, together with the bookmarks and the “watch” and “tracking” settings for the topics it’s killer.
The quoting is much better now.

So much things to name…

On that note, I was just thinking that it might be neat to somehow mark feature requests that have been implemented as “done”.

How and by whom a post can be marked as a solution? Haven’t found this option yet…

A reply can be marked as a solution by either the OP (topic starter), or a member of A&H staff. It cannot be marked as a solution by anyone else.

If you are the topic starter, you should see the Solution checkbox on every reply, so, it’s just a case of checking the box on the post that resolves your issue.

We’ll look into this, but I imagine the easiest solution would be to close the topic once the feature has been implemented so it is still visible, but further replies and votes are not possible.
