Play .WAV Files From USB

I have 14 .wav files stored in the playback directory in a USB drive. My CQ18T only shows two when I set up play. They’re not the first two or the smallest files - just from random spots on the list. All 14 were converted from .mp3 to .wav at the same time with the same software. Bit rates are same. Why can’t CQ see 12 of the 14 files?

There’s definitely something funny going on with WAV file playback from a USB flash drive. See my post here:

[CQ-12T Maximum number of WAV files on USB]

Your problem is not exactly the same as mine, or what I think mine is, but may very well be related. As a side note, the same USB flash drive that exhibits the strange behavior on CQ works fine on a QU-pac and a dLive.

Maybe someone needs to open a trouble ticket.

I did open a trouble ticket, and they responded. Files have to be .wav files with all meta data removed. You can install “Audacity” for free, and it’s and easy fix.

Thank you and very interesting. It’s possible that on my first go all the files had metadata and in subsequent tests it got stripped off for some reason and hence worked on the CQ. I’ll play with it some more. --Frank
