Ebay has magnetic strips for the QU series. Pretty cool & refined looking
I’ve got some of them and they’re very good - size is perfect, though they are quite expensive when you include postage.
Electroluminescent tape, I found thin magnetic roll to attach it to and Im printing clear labels this week once its done it should appear as I have digital strips. Even though they are not.
wow this beats the old gaffa system ive been having to use. I know one of my engineers tried getting mag paper but gave up here in NZ. maybe someone could give me a link to
"rolls of magnetic dry wipe whiteboard"
i’ll ship it in.
thanks
Cool idea topdj, must look into that!
I have some graphic eq t-shirts I got printed for a job a few years back.
How you planning to power it, just by a pack tucked under the desk?
yes it has a power pack or it runs a batter even a 9 volt will lite the issue I have it hiding the 2 wires.
I currently printed on this stuff,Site Maintenance
but they make clear label with black letter I can stick on the illuminated tape. so I will have 3 layers the mag material the illuminated material and the clear lettering. I will get a picture of the results by next week. I bought blue because it goes with the Qu-24
That’s a really nice idea.
I wonder if whiteboard marker would work on that stuff
hell ya it should its sealed
It’s the wiping off that’s really important, but if properly sealed then it makes an excellent mag strip to accompany the desk.
What’s the lamp output voltage? Enough to drive the EL tape?
The lamp sockets probably provide enough power, but you still need an inverter for any EL light, since this runs on voltages above 100V (maybe AC as well)…
…so: Don’t try this on an analog desk…
the inverter is 12v only needs low current
Cool!!
I saw this topic and i realise that a few years ago i had one of those printers.
Turn the house upside down and found him, here’s the result.
Hello!
Does anyone has those scrible strips sizes for QU-16? Is that magnetic paper strong enough to hold on, so pieces can be that small?
I use mag paper on a couple of mixers, it’s perfectly strong enough.
Does anyone have the original AI file? The copy.com file hosting site shut down and I am looking to make labels for my new QU32. If the template is still to big to upload here feel free to put them directly in my dropbox: Dropbox
Sorry guys about the slow reply!
If any of you still need the templates I made you can get them here:
