Recall Safe Function for CQ Series

I’m currently using the CQ-18T in a live environment with multiple scenes per show, often switching between them during a set. While the CQ platform offers a good and streamlined workflow, I’ve identified a key feature that would greatly enhance usability during live performances and rehearsals. Feature Request: Recall Safe Function It would be helpful to have a Recall Safe function that allows certain channels or specific parameters (e.g. preamp gain, EQ, compressor, mute, FX sends) to be protected from being overwritten during scene recalls. This is especially important in workflows where adjustments to levels or processing are made during soundcheck or on-the-fly during a show — and must persist even as scenes are changed for different songs or cues. Suggested implementation: • Per-channel and/or per-parameter recall safe toggles • Simple visual indication on affected channels • Stored as part of the active Show (not Scene), so they remain consistent across a performance Many digital consoles (including your own SQ and dLive series) offer this functionality, and it would bring a big value to the CQ series without compromising its accessibility or simplicity. In addition, it would be useful to have an “All Safe” or “Global Apply” option that allows updated parameters — such as Gain, EQ, Dynamics, or FX Send levels — to be applied across all existing scenes in the current show.
What do you think about this request ?

+1 voted.
This would be very useful for loading scenes/shows without affecting performers IEM/monitor mixes.

In all seriousness, +1. This is immensely useful for cultural programs where you have diverse groups of performers.

+1 As a user of SQ, Avantis, AHM, and ILive, this is the one thing I miss on CQ. I know CQ is in a different league to the others mentioned, but this lack can be quite a problem when under pressure in live conditions.

Absolutely. I have experienced it during Soundcheck conditions.

I provided PA and FOH services for a two-day 60s weekend last October, an event I do annually for the same promoter. Given my familiarity with the venue and my background as a professional musician (which means I often know the acts performing), I usually have a head start on their technical needs.

This time, I opted to use the CQ-20B over my pre-configured QU-SB. The lack of “Safes” on the CQ-20B made switching between acts more stressful. However, the CQ-20B performed admirably, especially considering it’s not intended for such demanding use. My monitor engineer found the FBA limiting, wishing he could access both GEQ and PEQ simultaneously.

Despite these challenges, the CQ-20B truly impressed for a device geared towards less experienced users. I’d absolutely consider using it again for events with a smaller number of acts. Adding a “Safes” feature would be a huge improvement!

+1 for Safes to be added.

BTW – I’m seeing a lot of users type “+1” as a comment, but not as a proper Vote. Is this due to some structural limitation from the forum software?

I think there are a limited number of votes a person gets. When I hover over the “Vote” button it tells me I have a certain number remaining.

I think that’s tied to each user’s “trust” level on these boards. As you post more your trust level will get bumped up and I believe you’ll get more Votes.

Makes sense. I wouldn’t trust me either! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
