An option for manually labeling a file could be helpful…maybe a compromise given the lack of clock on the SQ?

Hard to believe these mixers don’t have onboard timestamps…
I recorded multiple tracks the other day impossible so sort them out, they all have random dates and time.

I hope it’s not an engineering issue and they forgot to add a clock battery to the RTC…

Maybe ability to get time from the network automatically once connected that would be great.

Or a “sync time” button on the home page to sync from Network or Bluetooth.

+1. This would be great

Just wondered if this timestamping wish is actually possible if the CQ hardware itself doesn’t have an internal clock?

Maybe it could take clock from WiFi or connected Bluetooth devices?

I believe this is a hardware limitation in the current CQ lineup. No clock = no time stamps possible.
Same limitation issues re file handling. The USB and SD cards readers in the mixer are based on the restrictions of the old FAT file system used. Clearly the older tech is tried and tested for reliability but doesn’t have the features of the later tech, which would cost more at manufacturing point. Bottom line it all just business driven by the need for profit. For more features buy further up the range. The CQ is a good price point in the market place for all its features. As the saying goes you pay your money and make your choice.

No its computer clock regards time stamping.

It would be great to have someone from A&H hop on this thread and confirm what’s doable or not in this regard.

Can the CQ series derive “time” from it’s connection? BT, Wifi or Ethernet?
Even if it needs to resync every time you turn it off.

+1 for this. Would it be possible to have CQ MixPad send over the tablet’s current clock when the mixer and tablet connect? Then CQ uses this as the basis to set a software clock which runs in the background as long as the mixer was powered on?

Guys, dont forget to Vote using the new Vote button on top of the page.

I think we’ve been told theres no hardware clock so time stamping in that way from the mixer hardware not possible without new hardware.

As an aside the files created on the mixer hardware are subject to FAT32 file restrictions so filename length can’t exceed 8 chars. Screen names in mixpad can be but have to be indexed to achieve that where the mixer has to load files. Under the hood longer files names created on the computer will be truncated back to 8 for any mixer processing functions with those files.

My workaround on time stamping is to time stamp from the computer. Copy files from SD Card to computer gets you date/time data, copy files back and its retained on the card file. Name changes a bit more tricky re FAT32.

Set date time in folder list.

As you are processing video on your computer can’t you create/update a time stamp on there for the exported audio files from the CQ.

Not studied about how to add SMPTE timecoding data to an audio file I assume thats a feature of video editing software, if its not a built into the hardware device you record on.

Here’s a URL on how to update creation date of a file on a Mac

The CQ file system and existing hardware can’t do it.

Cheers

I guess, no RTC there. Maybe there is an option to pull time/date from a client (computer/tablet/phone) and store it somewhere in the system, but that would be just a work around.
